What's the difference between 2 Lyme disease tests?

I believe the two tests were the IDT (or IGT?) and the Western Blot test. What's the difference between the two and does it matter which one I use?
I know what Lyme disease is, what my question is asking is what the difference between the two tests that tell you how bad the infection is.
