the SD slot on my lap top is not working how do I troubleshoot it?

ok firstly i doubt it's the slot that's playing up steps to troubleshoot:

1. blow into the slot try again
2. check if the sd card is locked (genreally on the side of the memory card theres a little switch that locks it and prevents it from being read sometimes)
3. try another sd card
4. if none of the above work call the guys who make your computer and tell them what's going on and see what they say e.g dell, hp.
