How do you beat Spy Hunter for Nintendo?

I have an internet filter at my job, so I can't visit sites like gamefaqs, but I have been playing Spy Hunter on Nintendo for forEVER and still haven't beaten it. Is it a matter of just continuing to do what I'm doing, or do I have to go through certain forks in the road in a sequence before beating the game?

as i recall, this game just loops back to the beginning after you get to the end.. its been wayyy too long since i've played that though. I might be thinking of Pole Position, haha.
