What kind of Rebuild kit I should get for my stock chevy 350 to give me 350 or 400Hp?

I have a 1987 chevy Caprice with a stock 350 in it. I want to give it that extra horsepower like a 350 horsepower rebuild kit, or 400 horsepower rebuild kit, or even the 440 horsepower rebuild kit. So I can have a motor thats strong enuff to pull some big rims i have.

This question has many different answers. First of all you need to define what you are going to use the vehicle for. You can put a nitrous oxide kit on the car and meet your goal. If you are looking to build an engine that is capable producing up to 440 horsepower, you could build the engine with a turbocharger, supercharger or various other combinations of carburators or fuel injection. You will need to know how much money you want to spend. Horsepower can get very expensive and quickly. Another question is, will this car be driven on the street. Will it have to comply with emissions laws. These are very important questions. If you know a good machine shop go have a talk with the machinist. Tell him what you want to do, tell him what you budget is. You will need to look into what kind of cam, rotating assembly, heads and other items you will need to meet your goal. One last thing you want to make sure that you have a good strong platform to build from. Again check your casting number and ask a reputable machinist.

If you do decide to take on this challenge you will not be disapointed, there is nothing better than the sense of accomplishment when you build your own engine and be the one to drive it.
