Plastic piano key is sticking?
I just bought a melodica on ebay and within five hours of actually having it, one of the keys is stuck and it won't come up on its own. Can I unscrew the backing of the melodica and do something to it? It's made of plastic so I know it's not wood warping or anything and pressing the keys next to it doesn't have an affect.
It sounds like a simple mechanical problem
such as a spring popped off or something.
But the hard part is getting to the problem to fix it.
If you feel confident in your abilities,
definitely take it apart carefully.
Take care to see how each part you remove is attached
because you're gonna be replacing them the same way.
Keep track of where each screw, pin, lever... goes.
Once you get to the problem area,
you'll be able to see exactly what the problem is with the dead key by comparing it to the others.
Most likely, a spring or tension bar got loose during shipping
and eventually popped off during use.
Once repaired,
reassemble everything the same way you removed them.
