if points are reduced from driving records should it do the same for insurance records?

i'm currently thinking of taking a defensive driving class so that i can take points of from my driving record ( i got into a car accident and recieved 2 points in 2005) however i have being told by my sources that although the points will be reduced from my Drving record they will not be removied from my insurance record? i'm a little confussed about this can anybody please give me information on this issue, and possibly a way to deal with this, my insuance is currently real high and i do live in the state of NJ.
thanks in advance

Most, if not all, state have laws that state an insurance company _cannot_ consider increasing rates for points on a license if the person has those points removed. The kicker is that the city/state might not remove those points as they should or do not remove them before the insurance company rates the policy at renewal. You should ask your carrier about any rate increase and be prepared to supply them with written documentation showing the course was completed.
